Hero Arts Blog Hop

Hello crafters!

Welcome to the Hero Arts and A2Z Scrapbooking Digital Blog Hop!
You should have arrived here from the awesomely talented Tami Hartley's blog. I'm sure you found some fantastic inspiration there and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little anxious following behind her fabulousness ;)
If you are just dropping by and would like to start from the beginning head over to the Hero Arts Blog

Before we get to the cards for today let me explain a little of why we are doing this hop and of course what you could win. Win you say? Oh yes, I said Win!

Currently, A2Z offers a selection of Hero Arts digital kits, but in the coming weeks, we will be adding to the collection and stocking all Hero Arts digital products.  To celebrate our new collaboration, a number of artists from A2Z and Hero Arts have teamed up to provide you with a whole host of inspiration and fun. Just hop along and see how Hero Arts digital products can be used.

And to add to the excitement, A2Z Scrapbooking will be giving away a $50 gift certificate to one lucky commenter. Prize winners will be randomly selected from ALL comments received on the participating designers’ blogs. The more comments you leave along the hop, the better your odds of winning, so be sure to comment on every blog, including this one! You have until Sunday August 31st at 11.59EST to leave your comments and the winner will be announced on the 3rd September on the A2Z Scrapbooking blog.
Today I am working with one of the new digital kits for this fall called A Natural Holiday

It is filled with all sorts of woodsy goodness including digital stamps and cut files. I used three of the digital stamps for my projects today. I frequently want to add something to my digital images so they aren't just printed out, not that they aren't beautiful all alone, because they are, but because I don't currently own any software that allows me to use them to their full extent. I should invest in some but I can't seem to stop buying stamps long enough to get some $ together ;)

I really loved the woods background but I wanted to add more texture so I traced some of the trees with my Versamark pen and then added gold embossing powder from Hero Arts. The application wasn't as smooth as it could have been but I kind of liked how spotty it looked, like real tree bark. I added some "snow" with holographic embossing powder from Ranger. The sentiment is from a clear set by Hero Arts. I love how you can mix and match digital and traditional stamps!

I used the tree and Merry Christmas sentiment from the kit for this card. The polka dots on the tree were super cute but I wanted something a little more . . .sophisticated  . . . I guess? ha! I also wanted that texture! I printed my tree out in a very light gray then fussy cut the tree out. I trimmed the trunk off and the star off the top so I could color them, I ended up just leaving the trunk off.
Once the tree was colored I used the Starry Night stencil and some white embossing paste to achieve the texture I was looking for. To really  "light up" the tree I added dots with a silver and a gold pen. I couldn't leave off the dots of stardust stickles :)
The side strips were made with the gold pen and a ruler.

  20. Love both the cards. Those trees did come out really. I like your tip for adding something extra to the digital stamps for those of us who don't have extra software. This makes me less hesitant now to try digital stamps. Thanks!
